St. John's Wort: Identification and making infused oil (Video)

Meet St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) with Kim Walker of Handmade Apothecary. This midsummer herb is valued by herbalists for their medicinal golden flowers used fresh or dried in teas or tinctures for mild to moderate depression and anxiety. The fresh flowers are also infused in olive oil to create a deep red elixir for topical use as a first-aid remedy. The oil helps treat and reduce pain in cuts, wounds, minor burns and the shingles rash. It is also an excellent remedy for reducing nerve pain in back ache and neuralgia.
