Tincture Making: Part 2 - Tougher Plant Parts
<For part 1, click here
You have now learnt about making tinctures with ‘lighter’ herbal parts. What about ‘tougher’ parts such as roots, seeds and barks?
Why do these need a special method?
Roots, seeds and barks are tougher and the herbal goodness is trapped inside the plant cells. They need a bit more processing to release their goodness.
You can use roots, seeds or bark fresh. However, drying them can condense their goodness (by removing the water) and make a stronger tincture so they are often tinctured once dried.
